On August 19, 2014, the Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation (J.P.M.L.) issued an order transferring to the District of Minnesota, all cases "stemming from injuries resulting from the long-term effects of concussions while playing professional hockey in the NHL."
On behalf of their client, Jon Rohloff, a retired NHL player, Bassford Remele attorneys, Lew Remele, Scott Andresen, and Jeff Klobucar, filed an instrumental motion requesting that the J.P.M.L. send the NHL concussion litigation to the state of hockey—Minnesota. The J.P.M.L. granted their request, and sent the cases to Minnesota for coordinated or consolidated pretrial proceedings before the Honorable Susan R. Nelson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
