Long-Term Care

Much like health care in general, today’s long-term care landscape is changing fast. For several decades, our attorneys have built wide-ranging knowledge in this area of the law, along with a strong reputation with clients, judges, and opposing counsel — relationships that can be valuable in any case.

At Bassford Remele, we have considerable experience serving the needs of long-term care providers like nursing homes, assisted living facilities, nurses, and community-based providers. We have represented our clients in a variety of long-term care-related matters, including both investigations and claims involving injury, death, sexual abuse, and neglect.

Comments from clients and the legal community:

Steve Plunkett has unparalleled expertise in long term care law. He and his team are disciplined in their approach to investigation when a new matter is assigned to them. He positions cases for early, attractive resolution whenever possible.

Jim Kovacs, of Bassford Remele, handled a particularly challenging pro se matter, that spanned over two years. He patiently worked up the case and presented the appellate court what it needed to dismiss the case. Also, Tal Bakke has handled multiple unique landlord-tenant and commercial business matters for our client. He handles them professionally and efficiently, always getting great outcomes.

Bassford Remele's medical liability/long-term care unit is comprised of extremely knowledgeable, pragmatic attorneys and staff. They understand the needs of clients, and analyze claim events quickly, if they are able, so that claim events can be resolved sooner rather than later. The team takes into consideration the costs of discovery and trial, and works to present an analysis early, to formulate a plan for resolution if one is viable.

Bassford Remele has defense attorneys with many different backgrounds and centers of expertise. When we have needed expertise in product liability, the firm has responded with additional personnel to address unique issues. When we have been presented with unique legal challenges due to pro se plaintiffs, and suspicious claims, the firm involves those with unique expertise.
When a case needs to be evaluated for settlement value and range, partners involve others with similar background and understanding to pinpoint proper dollar evaluations.
