Charles Jones Appointed to Professional Liability Leadership Positions

Bassford Remele is proud to share that Charles Jones has been named the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL) Liaison to the American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability. He was also recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Professional Liability Defense Federation (PLDF). In addition to these leadership roles, Charles co-chairs PLDF’s Accountants, Fiduciaries, Trustees and Financial Professionals Committee.
With more than 35 years of litigation experience, Charles represents lawyers and accountants in malpractice and other professional liability claims, counsels professionals on licensing, compliance, and risk management matters, and advises insurers in coverage disputes as well as businesses involved in commercial litigation. He is licensed to practice in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers is comprised of more than 400 members holding an interest in lawyers’ professional responsibility, legal ethics, legal malpractice, and the evolving law of lawyering, primarily through the application of the rules of lawyer ethics to the practice of law. APRL was formed as a nonprofit organization in 1990. The great majority of APRL members provide advice to lawyers on legal ethics issues, defend lawyers in discipline matters or civil malpractice cases, act as expert witnesses, teach professional responsibility courses in law schools, or perform ethics-related functions in law firms. APRL seeks to improve the practice of law through the development and promotion of adherence to sound rules and regulation of the legal profession.
The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability is an essential source for information on legal malpractice claim statistics, insurance for lawyers, and malpractice prevention tips.
The Professional Liability Defense Federation is a national organization of defense lawyers, in-house counsel, and insurance industry professionals. Founded in 2009, the mission of PLDF is to enhance the stature and effectiveness of professional liability defense professionals through education, training, and the exchange of information.
