What advice would you give to young women aspiring to enter your field or any male-dominated industry?
Look for the opportunity, and don’t let fear of failure or self-doubt drive you. You DO belong in your field, and with opportunity and hard work, you can do this. Take well-researched and educated risks – look to challenge yourself so that you get the experience you need. Everyone has a first project, a first trial, a first oral argument – a first time doing something difficult. Work hard and prepare for the unexpected, but take the chance. And when things don’t go exactly the way you want them to, learn from the experience. I’ve learned the most from situations where things did not go as I hoped. Always look for the opportunity to improve and do things better the next time.
