Biography
As the chair of the Complex Litigation Practice Group, Amanda focuses her practice on antitrust, product liability, and consumer protection cases in both class and mass actions.
Amanda is also committed to pro bono work. She was previously part of a team that represented a class of civilly committed sex offenders challenging the constitutionality of Minnesota’s commitment statutes in Karsjens, et al. v. Jesson (D. Minn.). She was recognized by the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association with the “Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award” in 2011. Amanda has also been recognized as a North Star Lawyer for providing at least 50 hours of pro bono legal services in a calendar year to individuals in need.
Amanda is an active member of several bar associations serving both local and national areas of interest. She has served as a committee-chair for the Minnesota Women Lawyers Scholarship Fund as well as the liaison board member to the Hennepin County Bar Association. Amanda is currently serving as president of The Infinity Project, a group focused on mentoring women to increase diversity on the bench at the state and federal level.
In 2024, Amanda was selected as one of the Top Women in Law by Minnesota Lawyer. She has also been selected as one of Minnesota Lawyer’s Attorneys of the Year in 2017 and 2022 and named to the “Rising Stars” list from 2014 to 2019 and the “Super Lawyers” list from 2021 to 2025 by Super Lawyers.
Amanda graduated magna cum laude from Gustavus Adolphus College with a B.A. in psychology and criminal justice. She earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. During law school, Amanda clerked for the Minnesota Tax Court. Upon graduating from law school, Amanda served as a law clerk for The Honorable Gordon Shumaker, Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Representative Cases
- Amanda has been involved in many significant antitrust, consumer protection, and data breach complex litigations.
- She worked in the leadership group on a large antitrust class action brought against the NCAA on behalf of volunteer coaches, alleging that the NCAA’s Volunteer Coach Rule unlawfully fixed salaries of certain coaches at NCAA Division I institutions throughout the United States in Colon, et al. v. NCAA (E.D. Cal.).
- In addition, she recently represented individuals seeking damages for hearing loss and other-related injuries due to the use of earplugs manufactured by 3M. Amanda helped lead the cases that were venued in Minnesota State Court and ultimately 3M settled with the over 250,000 claimants, including those who brought their cases in Minnesota cases, for over $6 billion.
- Amanda was part of the litigation and trial team that represented Minnesota corn farmers against Syngenta, Inc. related to its marketing of certain GMO corn, in In re Syngenta Litig. (Minn.). This case settled on a nationwide basis for over $1 billion.
- Additionally, Amanda was an integral part of the litigation team that represented individuals with Spring Fidelis heart leads against Medtronic in In re Medtronic Inc. Sprint Fidelis Leads Prod. Liab. Litig. (D. Minn.), alleging that the leads were defective. The case ultimately settled for over $220 million.
