Bassford Remele is pleased to announce that Jazz Hampton has joined the firm. Jazz is a corporate attorney and experienced litigator who advises growth-stage companies, nonprofit organizations, startups, and mission-driven enterprises on commercial transactions, corporate governance, compliance, risk management, and business disputes.
Jazz brings a distinctive combination of general counsel experience, business leadership, and litigation skill to Bassford Remele. As co-founder, CEO, and General Counsel of TurnSignl, he helped lead the legal strategy and operational growth of a technology platform providing real-time legal guidance to drivers during roadside interactions and related legal matters. His experience includes advising on product development, regulatory compliance, privacy, enterprise risk, commercial strategy, and investor relationships.
In his practice, Jazz will serve as a strategic advisor to various organizations, helping founders, executives, and leadership teams make informed decisions at the intersection of law, operations, and business strategy. He counsels clients on commercial agreements, vendor and licensing arrangements, compliance planning, national rollouts, and practical approaches to managing legal risk while supporting growth.
Jazz also brings substantial litigation experience in complex contract, construction, commercial, and business disputes. His background includes drafting and analyzing discovery, deposing experts, arguing dispositive and non-dispositive motions, and handling a range of courtroom and dispute-resolution matters.
“Jazz brings an impressive blend of legal judgment, entrepreneurial experience, and practical business insight that will be valuable to our clients,” said Jessica Klander, President at Bassford Remele. “His ability to guide emerging and established businesses through both opportunity and risk aligns well with the way we serve clients across industries.”
In addition to his legal practice, Jazz has taught Entrepreneurial Finance at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business, helping entrepreneurs and future business leaders understand financing and capital-formation fundamentals. He is deeply involved in the community, serving on the boards of The Minneapolis Foundation, Catholic Charities Twin Cities, and the Great North Innocence Project.
In recognition of his leadership in Minnesota’s entrepreneurial community, Jazz was appointed by Governor Walz to serve on the Minnesota Emerging Entrepreneurs Board. He has successfully represented a wrongfully incarcerated pro bono client, and has been recognized for his leadership and innovation in the legal profession, including recognition as one of Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, inclusion on Worth magazine’s Worthy 100 list of global innovators creating positive social impact, and receipt of the Fastcase 50, an annual award honoring innovative, visionary, and courageous leaders shaping the future of law.
