Experienced litigator adds strength to firm’s professional liability and high-exposure tort litigation practices
Bassford Remele is pleased to announce that Lauren Nuffort has joined the firm, adding depth to its professional liability and complex civil litigation capabilities.
Lauren represents lawyers, health care providers, businesses, and individuals in complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on professional liability and high-exposure tort claims. She defends lawyers in legal malpractice and professional responsibility matters, health care and long-term care providers in medical malpractice claims, and clients in personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, property damage, and other significant civil disputes.
Lauren takes a practical, strategic approach to litigation, evaluating risk early and developing focused strategies aligned with each client’s goals. She guides clients through discovery, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and resolution.
In addition to her litigation practice, Lauren regularly writes and presents on litigation, professional responsibility, and insurance coverage-related issues. She is co-editor of the Minnesota Insurance Law Deskbook, a Minnesota CLE practice guide to Minnesota insurance coverage law, and has authored recurring updates to chapters on misrepresentation or omission in applications for insurance and fire and property insurance.
Lauren serves on the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association Board of Directors and as a Council Member of the Minnesota State Bar Association Professionalism and Ethics Section. Her professional accomplishments include recognition by The Best Lawyers in America© as the 2027 Minneapolis Lawyer of the Year for Professional Malpractice Law and Legal Malpractice Law – Defendants, as well as recognition on the Minnesota Super Lawyers and Minnesota Monthly’s Top Lawyers lists.

Lauren earned her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from St. Lawrence University. She is admitted to practice in Minnesota and North Dakota.
